As you may or may not know, under the Trumbull Town Charter the Parks & Recreation Commission “shall have the care, management, and control of all parks and grounds used for park and recreational purposes and all structures thereon….”

When the decision came to light this week about the change to the recreational facilities at Island Brook Park, I had a discussion with our Parks & Recreation Director, our Public Works Director, and the Chairman of the Parks & Recreation Commission. I requested that the decision to remove the basketball court at Island Brook Park be reconsidered. It was decided by all that the removal of the court would not happen. The decision by the Parks & Recreation Commission last fall to add pickleball courts at Island Brook Park will go forward.

When this exciting project is completed sometime early this summer, there will be six pickleball courts, one renovated tennis court, and the basketball court at Island Brook Park.
