Founder's Day Planning Update

With Hurricane Ian strengthening in the Gulf of Mexico and heading toward the coast, there is growing certainty that we will be impacted over the weekend. At the time this message is being drafted, the forecast for Tyrone includes a 40%+ chance of rain on Friday afternoon and an 80%+ chance of rain on Saturday. We are most likely to see the heaviest rain amounts (2" to 4") and the highest winds on Friday evening, but rain and higher than normal wind speeds are expected all day Saturday as well.

Obviously, we have to strongly consider all of this when making decisions about this weekend's Founder's Day event to ensure the safety of the public, our vendors, and our employees/volunteers. We also have contractual/financial obligations to consider.

All that said, the current plan is as follows:

All events for Friday night will be postponed, date TBD.

The fireworks show for Saturday night will be postponed, date TBD. We had to make this decision today or risk losing a significant amount of money based on our contract with the pyrotechnical provider.

We will continue to monitor this developing situation and make a final decision on Saturday's remaining events as soon as possible. We will notify the public via this email list and social media once a decision has been made.

We do not take these decisions lightly and we are doing our best to weigh all of the information we have at our disposal in order to make the right decision for everyone involved. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this process.
