COA Transition
Mignonne Murray, the Director of Weston’s Council on Aging for the past 6 years, will be leaving her role in Weston on January 4. Mignonne has accepted the position of Director of Senior Services for the City of Newton. We are sorry to say farewell to Mignonne and hope you will join us in wishing her all the best as she takes on new challenges in Newton.

Kristen Frady, the COA’s Program and Volunteer Coordinator since 2019, will serve as Acting Director until a new director is in place.

Celebrating the Season - December Reflections
We celebrated a busy and festive winter season at the COA with our annual Holiday Gathering, featuring the Winiker Jazz Trio. We hosted nearly 100 guests for a holiday handbell concert with the incredible Lincoln Bell Ringers, took a trip to Tower Hill Botanic Gardens for their sold out Night Lights exhibit and travelled (virtually) to Lisbon, Portugal, for a look at their holiday light displays and to learn about Portuguese Christmas traditions.

The Cambridge School of Weston’s Harmonics, a small group of talented CSW student musicians committed to expanding live music in the community, performed an impressive jazz concert;

We hosted a successful donation drive of hats and gloves for the Bristol Lodge Men’s and Women’s Shelters;

Our Local and Global Discussion Group discussed the mid-term elections, covering a thorough analysis of the economy, inflation, cost of energy, and immigration;
Folks relaxed before a busy season with Yoga Nidra;

Weston Forest and Trails’ Meg Kelly led us on a wet, but wonderful, trail walk through Highland Forest;

Chef Roberta Hing provided a hands-on cooking class, teaching us how to make (and enjoy!) classic dishes from the dim sum menu: mouthwatering Chinese barbeque pork puffs and fluffy scallion flower rolls;

Art educator Jane Blair took us on a tour through the life and works of Claude Monet and Auguste Renoir, two of the most beloved Impressionist artists;

And Royal Family fans watched the newest season of The Crown together!
