April Reflections
Some of our favorite programs and events last month, like our trail walk on the Legacy Trail in the COA's front yard, reminded us that it's spring, and warmer weather is around the corner.

Flowers weren't the only thing in bloom in April... residents enjoyed a private tour of Art in Bloom at the Museum of Fine Arts. Over 40 art lovers also enjoyed a virtual art appreciation program on Winslow Homer, hosted in part by a grant from the Weston Cultural Council.

Despite some chilly and windy days of last month, our golf group, The Weston Scramblers, kicked off the 2022 golf season at the Leo J. Martin Golf Course. The group meets weekly on Wednesday at 12:15 for a 12:30 golf scramble.

In honor of Earth Day, we handed out over 60 thyme plants. Volunteers helped wrap them up in burlap and residents picked their new plants up for themselves or to deliver to neighbors and friends. Land's Sake dropped off freshly cut greens and lettuce in the morning, which we handed out alongside the herbs. A huge thank you to Land's Sake for their thoughtful donation.

The still-cold days of April were perfect for our Friday Flicks... the COA Gathering Room was full for movies this month, including West Side Story, Bring the Ricardos, Belfast, and Hamilton. Historian Richard Bell joined us on Zoom for a historical analysis of Hamilton, and taught us what this renowned musical gets right and what it gets wrong
about Alexander Hamilton, the American Revolution, and the birth of the US—and why all that matters.

May
History history history! Whether you want to keep it local, go international, or ... musical? We've got it, with programs like Brawl in the Engine Hall (Waterworks Museum), virtual trips to the Pantheon and Edinburgh, Swingin' Sixties: Women Singers Find Their Voice, and Cezanne Art Appreciation.

We're also focused on health & wellness this month with How to Get Rid of that Pain in the Neck, Dinacharya: Ayurvedic Daily Routines, Emerging Treatments for Alzheimer's Disease, and Navigating Grief and Loss.

Don't forget to register to pick up a pack of macarons at the COA for yourself or  spread the joy and order one to give as a gift to brighten someone’s day. Call the COA at 781-786-6280 to order by 5/23.

We hope to see you at Celebrate Weston on Saturday, May 21 in the Town Center. Stop by the COA booth for a special gift for those 60+ and catch us on the Josiah Smith Tavern stage to learn how to salsa dance!
