On an early Monday morning in Sierra Vista, Truly Nolen's Tom Alexander thought he was going in for a routine weed treatment at Huachuta Mountain Elementary School but walked out a local hero when he rescued an owl that was tangled up in an unruly volley ball net. The owl was brought to Gray Hawk Ranch Rescue where he was then transferred to Tucson Wildlife where he was classified as a male juvenile gray horned owl. He was diagnosed with soft tissue damage, internal bruising and a bruised right wing. Despite his injuries, the owl is said to be recovering well and will be released back into the wild once the doctor gives him a clean bill of health.
