The City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM) continues outreach for Tucson Norte-Sur: Investing in Resilient Communities + Transit, the equitable Transit-Oriented Development (eTOD) strategic planning project for a north-south corridor extending from the Tucson Mall/Tohono Tadai Transit Center in the north to Tucson International Airport in the south. The 15-mile corridor study area, includes Oracle Road and Stone Avenue on the north side of downtown and South Sixth Avenue on the south side of downtown.

DTM is seeking public input to understand the community’s vision for this transit corridor, to ensure new housing, retail and amenities meet the needs and desires of the community. Representatives from the Housing and Community Development Department will also provide information on affordable housing initiatives and related efforts underway along the corridor.

The purpose of the Tucson Norte-Sur open house meetings is to ensure that new development reflects the culture, community, and sense of place found in the neighborhoods along the corridor. This planning effort will impact how Tucson neighborhoods look, feel and function over the next several decades, so your input is important.

In June 2020, the City of Tucson was awarded a grant from the Federal Transit Administration’s Pilot Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Planning Program. The funding will go towards developing a strategic plan to guide future land use and growth within the communities surrounding the transit corridor.
