UGH...it's hot!! As if you didn't know, right?

Hopefully, this heat wave is breaking over the weekend...but until then, be sure to take a little break in front of the air conditioner and read the latest community news in this edition of "NoHo Strong!!"

Every year, except for 2020 and 2021, I have been proud to be able to present a very important event to our community...an event that celebrates survivors of Domestic Violence. It is called the "Courage Jubilee." The event is full of music, poetry, comedy...but also presents much needed information to help our community understand how serious this situation really is, especially in our area.

"Courage Jubilee" is always held in October...because October is "Domestic Violence Awareness Month."

Of course, to be able to present an event like this, many folks need to be involved...on an all volunteer basis mind you. I have been very lucky over the years to have some great people volunteer to help put this event together. Speaking of volunteers, we have been able to acquire a new venue for our event this year. Bree Pavey, of the "Loft Ensemble" a lovely, quaint venue on Camarillo in North Hollywood, has generously lent us the "Loft Ensemble" and the sound and light techs for our event...a generous gift indeed!

So you can imagine how excited I was to find out that Bree has a show currently playing at the "Loft Ensemble. The play, "Mud" is written and directed by Bree. It's a haunting look into what may happen after the collapse of society. In Bree's drama, people band together for safety, survival and community. As they rebuild, they examine the failures of the past with an eye on Truth. Can they escape the Beast that hunts them, and avoid falling into the holes humanity left behind?

In a word...this production is AMAZING! In another word...FABULOUS!! You MUST see this production! It will certainly make you think! The actors are beyond remarkable and the imagination Bree has brought to her stage play is not only entertaining...it is incredibly thought provoking.
