Village Trick or Treat Hours
Monday, Oct. 31 from 4 to 8 p.m.

The official Trick or Treat schedule for Vernon Hills is Monday, October 31 from 4 to 8 p.m. To make sure our celebration is as fun and safe as possible, the Vernon Hills Police Department has provided a few key Halloween Safety reminders. Participating homes are encouraged to turn on their exterior lights. As a convenience, signs may be downloaded to show that your home is or is not participating. Have a fun and safe celebration!

Park District Pumpkin Composting

The Vernon Hills Park District will again collect and compost pumpkins, corn stalks and other natural/organic Halloween decorations on Friday, November 4 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Park District Maintenance Facility, 1400 Indianwood Road. Check the Park District website for more information.

SWALCO Tips for Greening Your Halloween

The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County encourages us to "Green our Halloween" by making our celebrations more sustainable. Check out the SWALCO handout, which is packed with information!

Winter Coat Drive
through November 16

The Village of Vernon Hills is again joining with members of the GLMV Chamber of Commerce to collect new and gently used coats and outerwear for veterans and their families. All sizes and styles are needed – families of those who are currently serving as well as retired need our support, too. Drop off at Village Hall during regular weekday business hours, or visit the VHPD lobby for 24/7 access. Many other drop points are available around town as well. Thank you for your generosity! To learn more, check the Village of Vernon Hills Facebook post, or visit the GLMV website.
