Librarian Picks!
October Releases

What new releases are librarians most looking forward to in October? Check out the selection below from Weston's Adult Services Librarian, Anne.

Avoid the rush and place your holds early at www.westonpubliclibrary.org.

Our Missing Hearts by Celeste Ng.  Bird Gardner lives quietly with his shattered father in a society ferociously intent on preserving "American culture" after years of chaos, with books seen as unpatriotic suppressed and the children of dissidents, especially those of Asian origin, sometimes forcibly relocated from their homes. Now he wants to find his mother, a banned Chinese American poet who left when he was nine years old.

The Song of the Cell by Siddhartha Mukherjee.  An exploration of medicine and our radical new ability to manipulate cells. Rich with Mukherjee’s revelatory and exhilarating stories of scientists, doctors, and the patients whose lives may be saved by their work, The Song of the Cell is the third book in this extraordinary writer’s exploration of what it means to be human.

The Night Ship by Jess Kidd. Based on a real-life event, an epic historical novel from the award-winning author of Things in Jars that illuminates the lives of two characters: a girl shipwrecked on an island off Western Australia and, three hundred years later, a boy finding a home with his grandfather on the very same island.

Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver.  The son of an Appalachian teenager uses his good looks, wit and instincts to survive foster care, child labor, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

When They Tell You To Be Good by Prince Shakur.  Recounting his own memories, travels, and political work, Shakur tells a much larger story of what it means to be queer and Black, and prods at the definition of family.

Holiday Hours

The Library will be closed on Monday, October 10th for Columbus Day and Indigenous People's Day.
