Author Visit with Renee Dudley of The Ransomware Hunting Team

Saturday, July 29.  2-3 PM.

Author Renee Dudley, will discuss her book The Ransomware Hunting Team : A Band of Misfits' Improbable Crusade to Save the World from Cybercrime, the story of a band of volunteer cybersecurity experts who use their computer skills to crack ransomware and help victims of cybercrime.

Improv Workshop for Adults

Tuesday, July 25.  7-8 PM.

In this workshop, participants will learn and practice improvisation activities and techniques that will help to improve expressive language skills as well promote faster thinking and decrease stress. Presented by Meredith Charles, proprietor of Drama out of the Box. Free. No experience necessary.

VIRTUAL: "Cooking with Scraps" with Cookbook Author and Sustainability Warrior Lindsay-Jean Hard

Wednesday, July 26.  7-8 PM.

Do you feel bad about throwing away (or even composting) food scraps that could be used? Well, feel guilty no more! Lindsay-Jean Hard is here to help us learn how we can make use of those scraps, keep them out of landfills, and still have enough left-over for our compost pile! Pulling from her book "Cooking with Scraps", Lindsay-Jean will be answering all of our questions about minimizing (or, in a perfect world, eliminating) food wastage!

Mandala Mindfulness: A Peer Support Group for Creative Coloring and Connection

Thursdays, July 6-August 10.
10-11 AM.

Many people find the drawing or coloring of a mandala to be meditative. The very nature of drawing or coloring a mandala is therapeutic and symbolic.

For more than seven decades, Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks made America laugh—either through their remarkable solo careers or their legendary partnership. This presentation will examine their extraordinary achievements, beginning with their work together on Sid Caesar’s Your Show of Shows and their creation of the 2000 Year Old Man, to their individual accomplishments as writers, directors, and performers.

Adult Maker Space Craft Classes: License Plate Box

Thursday, July 27.  7-8:30 PM.

Come join us Thursday evening for a craft class for Adults. This week we'll be making boxes out of metal license plates! The finished license plate box will be about 5 1/2 inches by 3 inches, and about 1 1/2 inches deep. We'll be using Ohio plates.

The Martial Arts are open to all people. In class we will learn basic self defense techniques, proper form and even a bit about Korean Culture. Respect is at the forefront of our classes as we develop students who respond and speak to each other respectfully at all times! This is a no contact class, open to everyone ages 12 and up.

Archives Open Hours

The Archivist will be holding Open Hours to answer your local history and research questions! Please keep in mind that some research requests will require advance notice. The Archives are located on the Mezzanine Level, across from the study rooms.

Who's that guy always looking down on us from the Teen Room door? This July, we will be celebrating the man, the myth, the legend: Keanu Reeves!  The library will be screening The Matrix in the Teen Room. No registration required.

BuildWave Workshop.  Saturday, July 29.  12:30-1:30 PM.

Buildwave is a creative building program that feels like a video game! Over the course of the workshop families create with over a dozen different building materials, including Lego®, PlusPlus®, and custom-made Buildwave materials. The workshop is structured like a video game, with an audiovisual setup featuring animations and music that guide students through the different building waves. As your child creates with wave after wave of new objects, they build creative confidence, become better collaborators, and encounter design and engineering fundamentals in a unique and memorable context.
