Summer Reading Kick Off Event: Local Author Book Fair

Saturday, June 24.  1-4 PM.


Woburn Public Library is excited to kick off this year's summer reading program with our second annual Local Author Book Fair. Authors and illustrators from Woburn and nearby towns will talk about their books and have copies for sale.

This year’s authors include Allen Banasiak, Gershon Ben Keren, Francis Blessington, Kelly Colón, Ewa Erdman, Jeanne Freeman, Kate Genovese, Carol Gordon Ekster, Laura Hatosy, Nicci Kadilak, EN Light, Deacon Kevin P. Martin Jr., Aashna Miharia, Alicia Restucci, and Ann Taylor.

Sign up for summer reading, enter raffles, and enjoy novelty ice cream pops generously donated by Nanabette’s Ice Cream and ice pops donated by the Friends of Woburn Public Library.

All ages are welcome to this free event.

Improv Workshop

Tuesday, June 27.  7-8 PM.
In this workshop, participants will learn and practice improvisation activities and techniques that will help to improve expressive language skills as well promote faster thinking and decrease stress. No experience necessary.

VIRTUAL: 50+ Job Seekers Networking Group: Networking 2.0

Wednesday, June 28.  6-8 PM.

More than 60 Massachusetts public libraries have partnered to offer the 50+ Job Seekers Networking Group program to support people fifty years and older looking for a new job, a new career direction, or a Second Act career. Take advantage of these free biweekly skillbuilding and networking group meetings. A new topic will be covered at each meeting. Attendance at each session is not necessary – but highly recommended! Job seekers can join at anytime!

From The Jazz Singer to A Star Is Born: A History of the Movie Musical

Friday, June 30.  1-2 PM.
As soon as movies could talk, they began to sing and dance—and musicals quickly became among the most popular film genres in America. Over the next nine decades, the movie musical would evolve to embrace every type of performance, from operatta to rock and soul, from tap to ballet, and every type of format, from Broadway hits to original creations from composers like Cole Porter, George Gershwin, and Irving Berlin. This presentation will look at the fascinating history of this unique format, and include more than thirty excerpts, featuring artists like Fred Astaire, Judy Garland, the Nicholas Brothers, Busby Berkeley, Gene Kelly, and the Beatles.  Presented by Brian Rose.

T's Taekwondo

Monday, June 12.  7-8 PM.
The Martial Arts are open to all people. In class we will learn basic self defense techniques, proper form and even a bit about Korean Culture. Respect is at the forefront of our classes as we develop students who respond and speak to each other respectfully at all times! This is a no contact class, open to everyone ages 12 and up.

Teen Journaling Corner

Tuesdays.  4-5 PM.

Each session will feature a different journaling style in a fun, coffee shop inspired atmosphere. We will try out dream journaling, bullet journaling, travel journaling, and journaling for emotional expression. You do not have to check your angst at the door!

Bring your own beloved journal or decorate a brand new one during our first session.
