Corduroy

Coming Soon! March 17 - 26

Purchase tickets Here

We're so excited about our next Theatre for Families production, Corduroy. Many of you may remember his story from your own childhood! Author Don Freeman created the picture book, “Corduroy” in 1968, and the popularity of the book, and the loveable teddy bear in search of a button, has only increased since then.

It's so delightful to see the character or Corduroy come to life on our historic stage. Actor Eddie Voyce (pictured above), does a marvelous job of playing this endearing role. Zariah Williamson (pictured below), wonderfully plays Lisa, the little girl who desperately tries to convince her mother to bring Corduroy home.

School Outreach Update

Our Student Outreach Program continues to touch young lives! This past week we had two opportunities to reach students that may not otherwise have had the exposure to the theatre arts.

On Thursday we held daytime performances of the Rising Stars production of Disney’s The Aristocats KIDS. Our cast performed for their peers from schools around the Yolo County region. As you can see from the photo, the theatre was full, and from our perspective there was no question that these kids thoroughly enjoyed the show!

That same evening, we had another successful performance. This branch of the program, in-school outreach, has several locations. Jeff Teague leads in Esparto, and he has been working hard after-school two days a week with students to produce a small musical revue. It was a fantastic introduction to the performing arts for so many of these students! We are very fortunate to have Jeff as part of our very talented team of instructors!

SAVE THE DATE!

Our next Rising Stars Production, Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical JR, will be auditioning on Saturday, June 17th. Time and other specifics will be announced soon.

This show, for young performers ages 11 through 18 years old* includes two commitments: the initial fully-produced production, which will begin rehearsals on July 17th and perform September 7th through 10th, 2023 AND extra rehearsals (one day a week) for the Junior Theatre Festival West (rehearsals begin in December and the festival is February 9-11th, 2024 in Sacramento.)

Performers must be 11 years old by the time of the audition and 18 through the end of February 2024.

More information, including character breakdown, tuition, and a pre-audition workshop, will be posted soon! Stay tuned!
