Big News: Executive Director Hiring

You may have seen our announcement last week about the hiring of a new Executive Director, Tom Burmester, to fill the role that Angela Baltezore has held for the last 9 years (both pictured). Angela will retire at the end of June and Tom will officially take the reins on July 1.

We will sorely miss Angela; she has contributed so much to the Opera House and to the Theatre And Dance Annex. Angela navigated us through the very difficult time we faced during the pandemic, and helped us reemerge from it as an even stronger organization. With a total of 26 years with us, her positive imprint will remain.

One More Weekend, Running Through the 26th

Corduroy opened this past weekend to rave reviews! Many a child (and adult) in each audience delighted in seeing the beloved bear that they know from the popular children’s book, come to life on our stage! Cheers to the cast and crew (pictured) on this gem of a show! And bravo to Ania Mieszkowska (front with bear) who lovingly directed.

Don’t miss out, we’ve got only one more weekend of performances. Get tickets now for either Friday night at 7:30 p.m. or Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. 

The run time is approximately one hour in addition to the 15-minute intermission. Bring your little ones, they’ll love it!

Reserved seats are $20 for Adults, $18 for Seniors (62+), and $10 for Children. Balcony tickets are $12 for Adults and $7 for Children. Flex Pass specials and group rates are available. We are committed to protecting the health and safety of our students and community by following the guidelines provided by Yolo County and the CDC. In accordance with the latest guidelines, the Theatre And Dance Annex (TADA) is now masks optional. We highly encourage families to make the best decision for their students. We will still have masks available on hand and will be following proper sanitization standards to ensure a healthy environment for all. TADA is located at 520 Court Street, Woodland. Hours are Monday - Friday, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Phone: (530) 650-8203.

Summer Workshops

Summer Ballet Schedule

We’ve been working hard at putting together our Summer Session. The following Ballet Classes will be available.

For Levels 2 and up:

Summer Ballet Intensive: This is a two-week, four day a week ballet intensive for our dancers that are looking to keep their physical strength up through the summer. Runs Monday through Thursday 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. June 19th through 30th. Tuition: $150. Ms. Crystal

Peter and the Wolf Summer Session and Nutcracker Summer Session: This is a combined intensive for those interested in performing in this selection for our Peter and the Wolf/Nutcracker Sweet holiday production. Must be in levels 2 or above. The workshop runs July 10th through August 3rd, Monday through Friday 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuition: $200. Ms. Ania/Ms. Crystal

For our youngest dancers:

Summer Creative Movement: Ages 3 to 5 years old. This class is great for developing muscle coordination, fine motor skills, social behavior, and more in a fun and encouraging artistic environment. Mondays and Wednesdays (2 times a week) 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Runs from June 26th through July 12th. Tuition: $80. Ms. Anna

Summer Preparatory Ballet: Ages 6 to 7 years old. This class is great for the new or returning beginning ballet dancer. Class will incorporate fun movement alongside beginning ballet technique. Mondays and Wednesdays (2 times a week) 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Runs from June 26th through July 12th. Tuition: $80. Ms. Anna

Interest List:

Beginning Ballet: Ages 8+, 1-2 days a week. If interested, please email Martha at our Front Desk: [email protected]. We would need a minimum of 8 enrolled students to begin a class.

Open to anyone between the ages of 11 years old through rising High School Senior (must be 11 years of age by the date of the audition and no older than 18 years old through February 2024). 

-No appointment is necessary.

-Invited callbacks will be held on Monday, June 19th at 7:00 p.m.

Broadway Bound "Out and About"

in the Community!

This past Saturday, our Broadway Bound training and performance group had the honor of singing the National Anthem at the season opener for our local Woodland Cal Ripken Baseball League! The weather was perfect for this early morning treat supporting our local youth organizations.

Broadway Bound was recently invited to sing for the Sacramento River Cats this summer. Stay tuned for more information! 

Our annual raffle to benefit Woodland Opera House programming will happen soon!

This year our raffle drawing will take place during intermission at the Friday night performance of the Dance Showcase on May 19th. Tickets will be available for distribution soon, so start making your list of friends and family to sell to! Prizes this year are great: A Clearlake Getaway, 65-inch TV, and $500 Cash Prize are just a few of them – WOW!
