Special Virtual Auditions for

Video Submission Deadline: June 15

Virtual audition submissions for our Fall 2023 production of School of Rock the Musical will be accepted through Thursday, June 15, 2023. Based on the hit 2003 Jack Black film, with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Glenn Slater, and a book by Julian Fellowes, we are currently seeking virtual auditions for specific roles only (actor/instrumentalists).

All other roles will audition August 27th and 28th, with more details to be announced soon.

As part of our Young Adult Performers series, The Lightning Thief, The Percy Jackson Musical boasts a very talented cast of actors ages 14-24 years old. This production is full of adventure, amazing music, and a great story.

As the half-blood son of a Greek god, Percy Jackson has newly discovered powers he can’t control, a destiny he doesn’t want, and a mythology textbook’s worth of monsters on his trail. When Zeus’s master lightning bolt is stolen and Percy becomes the prime suspect, he has to find and return the bolt to prove his innocence and prevent a war of the gods.

Dance Showcase Update

We had a wonderful weekend of Dance Showcase performances! Our incredible students told their version of Through The Looking Glass via a variety of exciting dance numbers. We are so proud of them!

Many thanks to Ania Mieszkowska and Andrea St. Clair for directing, and all of our instructors for their part in bringing the program together. We'd also like to thank the production crew and various volunteers for making the showcase such a great success! Thanks as well go to Strelitzia Flower Company of Davis, and the flower cart crew who put together the lovely bouquets and coordinated flower sales.

Summer Workshops

Summer Ballet: We have many great summer ballet classes open for enrollment!

For Beginning Ballet Dancers:

NEW - Beginning Ballet: Ages 8+ - This is a 2-day a week quick immersion into the world of ballet and beginning ballet technique. The focus will be on barre work, with some center and across the floor exercises.

When:
This workshop meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 10:55 a.m. Runs from June 26th through July 13th.

Tuition: $80. Ms. Anna **This workshop will be held at our 4th Street Rehearsal Studio, 415 4th Street at Main.

For Levels 2 and up Ballet Dancers:

Summer Ballet Intensive: This is a two-week, four day a week ballet intensive for our dancers that are looking to keep their physical strength up through the summer.

When: Runs Monday through Thursday 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. June 19th through 29th.

Tuition: $150. Ms. Crystal

Peter and the Wolf and Nutcracker Summer Session: This is a combined intensive for those interested in performing in this selection for our Peter and the Wolf/Nutcracker Sweet holiday production. Must be in levels 2 or above.

When: The workshop runs July 10th through August 3rd, Monday through Friday 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Tuition: $200. Ms. Ania/Ms. Crystal

Where: Theatre and Dance Annex, 520 Court Street, Woodland.

Please note that this is not at the theatre!

No appointment is necessary. Invited callbacks will be held on: Monday, June 19th at 7:00 p.m.

Scholarship Reminder

The Woodland Opera House Education Program is offering a $500 scholarship for a 2023 graduating high school senior who has benefited from our Education Program and/or has participated in WOH productions. The applicant must be enrolled in a College or Arts Education Program in the Fall of 2023 and intends to focus on Performing Arts (Dance, Music, Theatre, Communications).

Applicants should submit an essay describing future educational plans, what they gained from their experiences at the Woodland Opera House, and how that has prepared them for the future. Essay submissions due by Friday, June 23rd. Email all submissions to [email protected]

The scholarship will be awarded at the Show Biz Kidz “Broadway, Here I Come!” performance on July 21st. Please share this information with any student you know that may qualify. And good luck to all applicants!
