Copies of the book are available to request through the Library or for purchase at Eight Cousins Bookstore. To request the Zoom link, please email [email protected].

Film Screening: Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris
Wednesday, November 16
2:00 PM

Join us for an afternoon screening of the newly released adaptation of "Mrs. 'Arris Goes to Paris." This film is based on a book by Paul Gallico originally published in 1958. It centers on the wish of an elderly British cleaning woman  (a “char”) who had seen a Dior dress hanging in the closet of her employer, and pined to own her own dress from one of the Parisian fashion houses…..and therein hangs a tale.
As unlikely as the perpetual appeal of this plot is, a film was made of the story in 1992 starring Angela Lansbury and Diana Rigg. Although falling out of popularity for decades, (in fact, the book has been discarded from most libraries) the story has resurfaced as both a re-issue of the book as well as a brand new film. It is this new version of the film which will be shown at the Library on Wednesday, November 16 at 2 PM. It stars English actress Lesley Manville. Be assured that lots of beautiful dresses and scenes of Paris will fill the screen!

As always, the film is free and open to the public.

Let’s spice things up!

Continuing our Cook Book Club adventures, please join us in November and December as we try some recipes using Allspice. A pack of allspice with a selection of recipes will be available at the library beginning November 14. But don’t be limited by the ones we’ve selected. If you have some favorite recipes using allspice, please share them with us and we’ll compile the results to share with everyone who participates.

Knitting/Crochet Group
Beginning Thursday, November 17

After a Covid-induced hiatus that kept our knitters from meeting in person, we are thrilled to welcome our group back to the library! Beginning on Thursday, November 17, the group will meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month. Stay for the entire time, or just stop by for a few stitches. Looking ahead to December...
