Allegheny Valley Church of God

216 Catalpa Street
724-335-0994

The Allegheny Valley Church Of God is a Pentecostal fundamental church affiliated with the Church of God, Cleveland Tenn. It was planted on Oct.13, 1991 in the Garden City section of Monroeville, Pa. as the Garden City Church of God. After a year there it relocated to the Holiday Inn in Harmarville, Pa. The name was changed and the church met there for several years until the building at 216 Catalpa St. in New Kensington became available in 1996.

Our motto is "Building The Body Of Christ" changing our world by changing lives through faith in Christ and we are committed to strengthening the saints and equipping believers to bring the message of the gospel to their community. The city of New Kensington was once the headquarters for the Aluminum Company Of America (ALCOA) and was considered the aluminum capital of the world. There was also a heavy organized crime community which had it's tentacles in every aspect of community life, from church to city hall.

New Kensington began it's decline in the mid 1970's. That is when ALCOA decided to move their operations elsewhere. Having lost well over 4000 jobs the city fell into economic and civic darkness. We believe that the power of God is sufficient to bring life again back to this city. We pray daily for our local leadership as well as all the other Christ-centered churches in our neighborhood. With God, nothing is impossible.

If you live in the area and have a heart for the lost and a hunger for the uncompromised preaching of God's Word, we welcome you to join us.
