Vision Statement:
Where all students are primed to become successful and productive citizens in a safe, positive environment by accountable stakeholders who develop high academic skills and inspire personal dreams.

The Altus Public School System is a place with a vision shared by all. In our community, commitment to our children's future has become a common bond. We expect academic excellence, and we are proud of the people and programs in our schools which make dreams grow every day for our students.

Goals:

The Altus Schools will be the benchmark for measurable improved student performance through established district standards.

The Altus Schools will administer pre and post tests in all curriculum areas to determine strengths and weaknesses of student performance. Starting with the 2000-2001 school year, a measurable pre and post test will be given to EVERY student in the Altus Schools.

The Altus Schools will use information from programs such as the PassKey computer program in the core subjects to identify student weaknesses by the Friday following Labor Day. This information will be used to improve student performance of 90% of students achieving at least 70% passing on the pre and post tests. The post test will be administered to students no earlier than the last week of school or the last week of the block.

The building principal will have the responsibility of directing all other departments in developing and utilizing pre and post assessments.

The Director of Related Services will have the responsibility of directing the staff in the development and utilization of practices that will aid in the improvement of measurable student performance.

The Assistant Superintendent will have the responsibility of directing the Central Office staff in the development and utilization of practices that will aid in the improvement of measurable student performance.

The Athletic Director will have the responsibility of directing the coaching staff in the development and utilization of practices that will improve measurable student and athletic performance.

Program Directors at Booker Center and the Director of the Alternative School will have the responsibility of directing the development and utilization of practices that will improve measurable student performance.
