A community service club with several projects, including working at the ATCO Valentine's Dance, the Southeast Ohio Chair Volleyball Tournament, UCM Thursday suppers, Special Olympics. Civitan is...

... an association of over 1000 clubs in 37 countries. Internationally there is a focus on projects involving those with developmental disabilities. Each club chooses its own projects and activities. People become members to help their communities, gain knowledge, and meet new and interesting people. 

Service

 The Athens Civitan Club works on projects involving those with developmental disabilities, such as Special Olympics and the ATCO Christmas party, and other projects such as the annual Southeast Ohio Chair Volleyball Tournament and providing and serving food at four or five UCM Thursday suppers each year. 

Knowledge

We learn primarily through monthly speakers such as Jonathan Leal of Vino di Milo and Steve Pierson, Director of Code Enforcement for the City of Nelsonville, as well as from each other. 

Fellowship

We enjoy fellowship while socializing during meetings as well as activities such as wine tasting and our charter night dinner.
