About Us:

Welcome to the Auburn  Village School's website. We have a student body of approximately 600 students in grades one through eight. In many ways we operate as two schools within one facility. Students in grades 6-8 are in our middle school program. For these students the school day begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 2:15 p.m. For core subjects (language arts, math, social studies, and science) we have three grade level teams. Each team consists of three or four teachers depending upon the student enrollment. In addition, all students participate in Unified Arts instruction. The students take a quarter each of art, music, and physical education. Family consumer science and technology education are split for the fourth quarter. The middle school students also take either French classes or reading support.

There are many opportunities for after school activities. Our athletic teams compete with students in neighboring communities throughout the school year. Our sports program includes boys' and girls' soccer, cross country track, girls' and boys' basketball, volleyball, boys' and girls' lacrosse, softball, and baseball. We have an active student council, a yearbook staff, art club, chorus, and a chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. Our school teams also compete in Lego League and Destination Imagination.

For elementary students (grades one through five) the school day begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 3:15. Most instruction takes place in heterogeneous, self-contained homerooms. Depending upon the enrollment at each grade level, there are three or four homerooms per grade. Elementary students have forty minutes of instruction weekly in several specialists' areas: art, music, physical education, and computer. They also have two quarters of guidance and two quarters of enrichment (40 minutes per week). We usually have one or two teams of elementary students participating in Destination Imagination competition.

Auburn Village School has a staff of competent, caring professionals. All our teachers are certified in their respective field and have met the state requirements for Highly Qualified Teachers. They continually participate in professional development workshops and courses. With the other two districts in our SAU, we have studied the latest NH grade level expectations in all content areas and revised our curriculum and instructional practices in order to meet and master the new standards. Students in Auburn Village School have traditionally performed well on the mandated state assessments.

In addition, we have a full staff of other qualified professionals and dedicated para-educators serving the students. Our special education department includes five teachers, an occupational therapist, a speech pathologist, a speech specialist, and a school psychologist. We have two reading specialists, one for elementary and one for middle school. We have one full time and one half time school counselors. We also offer Title One math support for qualifying students in grades two through six. Our school library, directed by a certified media generalist, serves all grade levels. Our full time school nurse is a licensed nurse practitioner.

The dedication and commitment of staff members extends to every facet of our school from the pride that the maintenance department takes in the condition of our building and grounds to the quality of meals prepared by our food service department. Each employee contributes to making Auburn Village School a good place for children to learn and grow.

Strong parental involvement and community support is also a vital part of Auburn Village School. We have a vibrant PTA organization and school volunteer program. The PTA sponsors and facilitates many enrichment activities for the students throughout the year: stage performance experiences, assemblies, grade level mini-grants, and more. Their generosity built the climbing wall in the gym and provided the sign in front of our school among other things. Please use the link in our website to learn more about their program.

From student to school board member, cook to custodian, teacher to administrator we all share a pride in our school and our community. We invite you to explore our website and learn more about us. Welcome to Auburn Village School!
