Mission:

"(BAIC) is an Urban American Indian Community Center......" established to assist and support American Indian and Alaskan Native families with moving into an urban environment and adjusting to the culture change they will experience. The BAIC also serves as a focal point for the Indian community for social and cultural activities and to educate non-native people about the cultures of the North American Indian and Alaskan Native communities.

About us:

The Baltimore American Indian Center (BAIC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that has been serving Native American Indians in the Baltimore metropolitan area and surrounding areas since 1968. The BAIC was established to serve as a social and cultural "home base" for Native American Indians in the region. Many Native American Indians, primarily Lumbees (North Carolina) began moving into the Baltimore area during the 1940s in search of better jobs to support themselves and their families. Leaders from this community have designed and continue to implement the culturally competent plan of advocacy that the BAIC uses to this day to provide local indigenous Americans with crucial social services in a centralized, understanding environment. We currently offer housing, employment, child care and healthcare assistance as well as cultural education programs, events, and youth activities that help keep our heritages alive. We invite you to explore our site and get involved!
