Belmont Garden Club

The Belmont Garden Club was established in 1930 with Miss Lucy D. Luard as the first President. 2005 marks the Club's 75th Anniversary! The Club is a member of the National Garden Clubs, Inc., The Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, Inc., N.E. Wildflower Society, Inc., Audubon Society, Habitat and Massachusetts Horticultural Society. The Belmont Garden Club currently has 171 members and its President is Angela Alessandria.

In addition to offering public events, participation in the annual New England Flower Show, and workshops for its members, the Belmont Garden Club pursues a variety of projects to help beautify the Town of Belmont and support its residents. Activities include community plantings at various deltas in town, providing weekly arrangements to the Senior Center, monthly visits to the Belmont Manor Nursing Home, scholarships to college-bound Belmont residents for horticultural pursuits, tending the wildflower garden at the Main Library, and introducing and educating junior gardeners in gardening, flower arranging and community involvement.
