About

Belmont High School is a small school of 482 students in grades 9-12. Located in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire , its students live in a rural and small town environment. The Town of Belmont joined with the Town of Canterbury in 1971 to form the Shaker Regional School District .

The quality of education offered is geared toward giving the students a strong background of knowledge and skills which will be needed for a complex world. A primary direction of the school is concerned with the development of ethical character and an understanding of the value of the individual. The school also shares in the responsibility of preparing each student to be an active and positive participant in our democratic society.

Belmont High School offers a comprehensive academic program with high expectations and firm minimum standards. The academic program is designed to strengthen the student's intellectual attributes. A variety of courses suitable to varying levels, aptitudes, and ambitions is offered. Students are taught to think logically and are encouraged to develop the problem-solving skills needed for future years.

Belmont High School creates a learning atmosphere that considers the uniqueness and individuality of its students. Through a variety of academic, artistic, and athletic endeavors, students are encouraged to cultivate their strengths and recognize their weaknesses. Opportunities for leadership, creativity, and independent study are provided and encouraged.

It is the goal of the faculty, school, and communities to make learning an interesting, rewarding, and positive experience which will transcend into adult life.

Belmont High School establishes a learning environment which promotes intellectual and creative growth and social, emotional and physical development. The professional staff, with the support of the residents of the Shaker Regional School District , recognizes and accepts the responsibility to foster academic excellence in all areas of curriculum and to develop the whole person who possess skills, knowledge, and social responsibility. Belmont High School realizes that learning is a lifelong and that our goals include present day and lifelong learning opportunities.
