About Us :

The Berkeley Chamber of Commerce's flag flies high above Skates on the Bay Restaurant at the Berkeley Marina.

Our Chamber opened its doors in 1900. Since that time we have been actively representing Berkeley's business interests. When the Berkeley Chamber of Commerce says it represents business interests, it means it is willing to represent you personally and business in general at City Hall and City Council meetings. We work toward improving requirements for doing business, from costly regulations involving permits, expansion or moving to environmental issues and EPA requirements that can make your business life miserable. The Chamber is the clearinghouse where you can voice an opinion, a compliment or a complaint to City Hall.

Those of us in the Chamber office understand the importance of bringing members together. This is accomplished through breakfast and luncheon meetings, mixers, forums and special events. These are not only excellent networking opportunities for members, they also give the staff the same opportunity to listen to the members.

Don't get lost on the fast track. As one of our members reflected in 1937, "Our city, Berkeley, today is a modern one, with privileges that were not available when we were young; but neither growth nor advanced living standards shall take the place of that time when two board walks were all that was ours; when a picnic or a barbecue, and once in a while a dance, brought us the keen joys of life."

Here's to wisdom—may it always remind us that coming together and sharing our thoughts is the beginning of understanding one another. We invite you to become a part of the Berkeley Chamber of Commerce.
