About Us:

The Terrace Plaza Playhouse opened with its first production of Scrooge: a Christmas Carol in November of 1992. The Playhouse was founded by Blaine and Beverly Olsen.  Beverly was very active in theater and was a member of Actors Equity Association. She performed in or directed many professional productions across the Wasatch front, as well as many non-professional and educational productions. She had dreamed of operating her own theater, and was instrumental in several theaters along the wasatch front. Beverly was a master at looking at something, be it a person, piece of construction material, or fabric, and seeing the potential it had. It is therefore not surprising that she would look upon a neglected former grocery store in Washington Terrace Utah, and see the potential of it as a working community theater. Along with her husband, they proceeded to purchase the building and begin its renovation into a theater.

Over time friends, family and others have added to the “family “of the playhouse. In a short time, the playhouse was fully staffed with a small army of volunteers. Soon a seven show season was scheduled and provided the basis of our performance schedule ever since. The Playhouse has been operating continuously under the same management and many of the same volunteers since 1993. It has grown into a great source of family entertainment for the Ogden area. Sadly on New Year’s Eve 2005, Beverly passed away leaving the operation of the playhouse to her Husband Blaine, and Daughter Jacci. In honor of Beverly and her vision, Blaine renamed the Playhouse to Beverly’s Terrace Plaza Playhouse.

Everyone involved has continually carried on Bev’s vision.  Even on the sad day of Bev’s passing only hours before, the playhouse had a performance of Nunsense that night; even more impressive is Bevs Daughter Jacci performing her role in the mantra of “the show must go on”. It is this level of dedication and commitment that has kept the theater open for the last 20+ years, and will continue it for many more.  Everyone has maintained the same level of professionalism and family values which Bev would have expected. The Playhouse has presented over 3000 performances and will continue to do so well into the future. The playhouse has been host to dramatic productions, Musicals, Children’s theatre, and various other performing groups. We thank you for your interest, support and help along this great journey; for we know without an audience, there would be no performance. Please continue to join us in this continuing journey.
