Boy Scout Troop 713

Welcome to Troop 713 where our motto is “One for all, all for one.” We are a Boy Led Troop, which practices leadership through the Patrol Method. As Scoutmaster for 713, I commit to provide you, the scout, with every opportunity to achieve rank advancements, merit badges and plenty of leadership opportunities. What I ask from you is your commitment, desire, and perseverance to achieve leadership skills. For those coming into the Troop from Cub Scouts, you will notice some big differences. In Boy Scouts the scouts lead the troop and the adults support the scouts. Using the Patrol Method, scouts in leadership positions are responsible for planning and leading all troop meetings and campouts. This means that as a member of this Troop, you will be expected to do your part to make your patrol and this Troop a success. The measure of the success of our Troop is defined by the leadership of our scouts. Scouts successfully demonstrate leadership by mentoring and helping younger scouts through their rank advancements. Because few of us master a new skill on our first try, it is important to remember to be both respectful and cooperative when working with higher-ranking scouts in leadership positions. Soon enough, it will be you practicing your leadership skills on future scouts. By the same token, if you have any scout appropriate questions, comments, or complaints that you would like addressed, you should always approach your Patrol Leaders before addressing your concerns to a Scoutmaster. This approach will strengthen your bond with your Patrol Leader as well as give your Patrol Leader the opportunity to practice issue resolution. If you are unable to resolve an issue or conflict then do not hesitate to have a discussion with your adult Scoutmasters.
