About Us:

Good things are happening in Camden County Schools. The progressive school system, which is one of the smallest in North Carolina, opened CamTech High School this year. CamTech is a project-based learning school in a technology-rich environment. The system has recently started construction on Camden Intermediate School, which will house grades 4-6. Camden County is experiencing growth that requires the county to steadily prepare for adequate facilities for students.

The school system’s Strategic Plan sets a goal of 97% proficiency on end-of-grade tests by 2008. Camden County students have consistently scored above the state-wide average on their end-of-grade and end-of-course tests.

All schools in Camden County have made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for three consecutive school years. This is quite an accomplishment, which shows the commitment to excellence on the part of our teachers and students.

The community provides tremendous support for the schools in Camden County. There is a high level of cooperation between the Board of Education and County Commissioners. The support of the Camden Education Foundation and volunteers in Camden County has created an optimum working environment for staff, which makes it easier for teachers to focus on the children. Thus, the school system’s motto, “Camden Keeps Kids First in Education,” is truly a reality. These organizations working together have already had a tremendous impact on the school system and set the pace for what will be accomplished well into the 21st century.
