Mission and History :

The Canyon County Fair is a mission of community. In its desire to create a facility which expresses the rich culture of the Canyon County heritage, the Fair will create a multipurpose complex focusing on education, family, and agriculture.

The Canyon County Fair began in 1887 in Caldwell, Idaho. After 20 years, the original site was sold and forty acres was bought between Chicago Avenue and the railroad tracks. The area's ½ mile race track was used for the fair races and next to the opera house were buildings where animal and open class exhibits took place.

After a fire in 1916 and financial difficulties, there wasn't a fair in the Canyon County till the 1930s. Since then, the fair was held in the Guard Armory, the Caldwell Park, and, finally, the O'Connor Field house, now known as the Caldwell Event Center. It has evolved a generous amount since 1887, but still holds the ideals of its existence.

Its a nice place, not too crowded. Good livestock. But some of the rides are old, needs more modern rides as well as what they have now. They have some classics like The Zipper, Zero Gravity, and Octopus. I recommend it.

Great small town feel. Fair is based on youth activity and is not overly commercial.

GREAT fair food , great groups that play at the fair, wish I had taken a few pics , there was an food vendor that had " Fry Bread " on there food cart but more or less it was Hawaii style fry bread , passed it up.

This was my first year going and I will not waste my money next year the rides were minimal and the pricing for a wristband for children was $30 per child when you have two children under the age of 6 to go on kiddie rides for $60 is absolutely ridiculous not that many vendors very disappointed I've been to the other fair in Boise and plan on going back this year. However Canyon County will never see me again.. I gave it one star only because there were some bathrooms the kids could use
