Carver Elementary School

291 Liles Dean Road
919-365-2680

Carver School strives to educate the whole child by providing developmentally appropriate instruction at the child’s level. The curriculum is integrated through the science and social studies goals and objectives. The use of technology is expanding through our school. All classes have implemented the TC model of at least five IBM networked computers per class. Our emphasis on character education, quality school principles, and restitution promotes learning climates that encourage risk taking, cooperative work, and problem solving for all students. Many families take advantage of our multi-age programs which group students and teachers together for a two year cycle. This promotes strong relationships between teachers and parents and provides consistency and predictability for students. Teachers know the achievement levels of their second year students and spend little time assessing and catching up at the beginning of a new year.

Carver is the only elementary school that offers the alternate schedule. The alternate instructional calendar splits the school year into four nine week sessions. After the first and third nine weeks, there is a two week break for students. After the second nine weeks which ends the first semester, there is a three week break. Students have about seven to eight weeks off in the summer . During the intercession, we offer ALP and camp.
