Mission:

Our goal is to prepare all of our students to use their minds wisely, to think deeply and critically, and to be productive citizens. Ultimately, we want every student to achieve their learning potential and be well prepared for the demands of high school. To this end, teachers meet and collaborate regularly during their common daily planning period and every Tuesday afternoon (Planning Day) to plan the implementation of the California State Content Area Standards and rigorous academic goals for all students.

Our over reaching academic goal is to improve our student achievement by at least 5% annually as reflected on the state’s Academic Performance Index in the areas of reading, writing, and mathematics. As developing Professional Learning Community, Central Middle School’s staff is involved in a “Results” based improvement process that facilitates and involves reviewing student achievement date, promoting the development of effective teaching strategies, implementing academic interventions, and setting concrete, attainable goals to make improvements in student learning.

Our school program incorporates strands for the following programs: Title I, Gifted and Talented Education, and English Learners. Our school campus is equipped with six Internet connections per regular classroom and a mini Library Media Center computer lab. The receipt of several technology grants in the past, particularly one that focuses on language arts has facilitated this process. Central also possesses a strong elective program that includes an exemplary music program, Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program, and Spanish as a foreign language. We are strongly supported by our community of parents through a network of parent organizations: PTSA, School Site Council, English Learners Advisory Committee and our Title I Consultation Committee.
