Cherokee Elementary School

475 East Cherokee Road
847-234-3805

Cherokee serves a population of students from kindergarten through fourth grade. The student enrollment at Cherokee is approximately 329 students. Our school mascot is Champ the Cheetah. Many parents choose to live in Lake Forest due to our reputation for academic excellence, and we at Cherokee uphold that reputation through our work to meet the needs of all of our Cherokee Cheetahs.

Cherokee students are provided with an environment in which they are consistently challenged and motivated to do their best. Together, administrators, staff members, and special service professionals partner with the community to engage each and every child in the rigorous curriculum at Cherokee. Core subjects studied include reading, math, writing, social studies, and science. Cherokee students are also fortunate to participate in music, art, wellness, and library and technology instruction in addition to their core areas of study. A unique aspect of Cherokee’s curriculum the Inspiration Block, which allows students to learn science and social studies concepts either through inquiry-based problem solving or Mandarin language acquisition.
