Chester Land Trust

P.O. Box 82
860-526-3393

The Chester Land Trust is a volunteer non profit organization which exists to conserve and preserve the town’s fragile and unique natural environment, in all its forms: general land use, swamps, woodland, open spaces and all the plant and animal life thereon with a special emphasis in preserving watercourses and wetlands. Furthermore, the Trust promotes study and education about the natural resources.

More specifically, to meet its goals, the Trust strives:

To acquire land and land easements by donation, lease or purchase

To reclaim and restore land assets to their natural condition and to provide public assets for passive recreation of designated land

To steward by inspection to assure compliance with intended purposes

To foster public awareness of land preservation issues by sponsoring conferences, speakers, general promotions and publications

To work with town officials and commissions on a continuing and cooperative basis for land protection and on preservation issues

To cooperate closely with other land trusts in the area on joint educational and projects of mutual interest.
