Mission:

The Chesterfield historical Society of Virginia, established on September 23, 1981, serves as the center for Chesterfield County history. Our mission is to collect, preserve interpret, and promote the county’s unique past for the education and enjoyment of present and future generations.

Vision:

Our vision is to be the premier resource for all Chesterfield County citizens and visitors regarding local history. We, in partnership with the County of Chesterfield, will provide quality programs, exhibits, and information to support educational goals.
All collections of artifacts and materials related to Chesterfield County and Virginia will be preserved consistent with professional museum standards.

Citizens will embrace and value the history of Chesterfield and will be knowledgeable about the historic contributions of people, places, and events that shaped our community. We want all Americans to know the basic principles, including Freedom of Enterprise, started here with our first settlers and were passed on from state to state, community to community, across our nation.

It is also our vision that school children know as much about Bermuda Hundred, the second continuous English settlement in America, which was here in Chesterfield, as they already know about the first English settlement, Jamestown.
