Chippewa Valley Schools
As one of Michigan's fastest growing school districts, Chippewa Valley serves more than 16,200 students in grades K-12. The Chippewa Valley School district has won several National, State and County awards and is recognized as a leader in the educational community. Our students continue to rank in the top percentile on MEAP scores in Macomb County. Ninety-four percent of students graduate from Chippewa Valley Schools.
Chippewa Valley Schools - Making the Grade
At Chippewa Valley continuous school improvement is a priority. Curriculum councils and school improvement teams, composed of teachers and administrators, continuously work to update teaching strategies and keep our curriculum aligned with the state benchmarks.
Chippewa Valley Schools has twelve elementary schools, four middle schools, two 9th Grade Freshman Centers, and three high schools including Mohegan High School, an alternative school of choice. The North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA) has accredited each of our schools. NCA accreditation signifies that each school meets high quality standards and agrees to participate in a rigorous on-going school improvement process.

At Chippewa Valley Schools we offer a caring, safe, and child-centered environment. Students are challenged by high academic standards and a variety of enrichment opportunities and programs. Science Olympiad and Destination Imagination provide gifted students with academic, problem-solving and communication activities. These teams consistently win at the county level and go on to participate in the state competition. Our special Youth Enrichment Program provides elementary students with new and extended learning experiences in fine arts and foreign language. Our Advanced Placement (AP) program provides high school students with a more intensive course of study.
Chippewa Valley offers a full range of programs in Career and Technical Education (CTE) including courses in Automotive Technology, Business & Information Technology Services, Construction Trades, Design Technology, Graphic Design, Hospitality & Culinary Arts, Life Skills, Marketing, Medical Careers and Woodworking & Cabinetmaking.
In the spring of 2004, Chippewa Valley High School was awarded the prestigious Michigan Exemplary School Blue Ribbon designation.
Beyond the classroom
In addition to a comprehensive academic program, Chippewa Valley offers a variety of co-curricular activities for its students. From school sponsored clubs to athletic teams students have an opportunity to master new skills, develop their creativity, participate in leadership exercises, and learn the value of teamwork.
Special services for students
Chippewa Valley Schools provides a full-range of educational programs for academically and physically challenged students in compliance with State and Federal laws. These services are provided to qualified individuals residing within our school district. Types of services provided through Special Services vary for each child and are customized to the student's individual needs.
Providing the best in educational facilities, technology
The Chippewa Valley Schools community takes pride in its top-notch facilities and outstanding educational programs. This is evident in the high level of parent involvement and community support the district receives from its residents. In December of 2004, voters overwhelmingly approved a $168 million dollar Bond Proposal to build a new elementary school, a new middle school, and two 9th Grade Freshman Centers on each high school campus, as well as adding classrooms on two existing middle schools. In February of 2001, voters approved a $104 million dollar Bond Proposal to build a new elementary school, add classrooms at Fox and Mohawk Elementary Schools, remodel older school buildings, add a new pool at Chippewa Valley High School, a football stadium at Dakota High School, and more than $24 million for instructional technology. In 1997, voters approved an $83.4 million Bond Issue to build Cheyenne Elementary School, improve existing buildings, and provide $18 million for the implementation of technology. As a result of these bond improvements we offer a 4-to-1 student/ computer ratio and all of our schools enjoy state-of-the art media centers, wireless laptop stations, computer labs and distance-learning labs. A wide area network (WAN) provides communication between school buildings and students and teachers have access to the Internet.
