The city offers a variety of cultural, educational, and recreational activities for all ages ranging from cultural events to continuing education. Shopping and dining includes a historic downtown district, eight shopping centers and a wide variety of businesses located throughout the city. Moderate temperatures allow year-round golfing, hunting, fishing, and many other outdoor sports. The Enterprise City Park includes tennis, walking trails, a lake, playgrounds and a picnic area.

A wide variety of additional quality medical services are available with a 30-minute drive. For the military, Lyster Army Hospital is located five miles from the city.
