City of Framingham

150 Concord Street

The Town of Framingham is a diverse community located in eastern Massachusetts, 20 miles west of Boston (mid-way between Boston and Worcester). At nearly 67,000 inhabitants, Framingham is the largest Town in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the hub of the Metro-West region. It is bordered by Southborough and Marlborough on the west; Sherborn and Ashland on the south; Natick on the east; Wayland on the northeast; and Sudbury on the north. Framingham is 197 miles from New York City.

A Town Manager/Board of Selectmen executive branch governs the town, with a representative Town Meeting serving as the legislative branch. The residents of Framingham value public participation and the town is the largest municipality with a town meeting form of government.

Framingham, the community, is a unique blend of urban and rural qualities. A vibrant retail area along Route 9 lies close by the Town Common and quiet residential areas with a variety of housing opportunities. Framingham offers excellent public services; a well-respected school system and a full-service community teaching hospital.
The historic strengths of the Town have been its location and its people. From its founding in 1700, Framingham has supported a variety of industries. The mills and factories that flourished in Framingham encouraged the growth of the Saxonville and Nobscot areas of the town as well as the area known as Downtown Framingham.
Currently, the major town employers are primarily non-manufacturing, including medical, retail, educational, office and biotechnical activities. It is home to Framingham State College; several major corporations including Bose Corporation, Staples, Natural Microsystems, Perini, Lifeline and TJX and Metrowest Medical Center.

Framingham offers a variety of recreational and cultural activities for its residents from the many organized team sports leagues to the nationally renowned Garden in the Woods and Danforth Museum. Framingham unites for numerous municipal celebrations throughout the year, with a major focus on Flag Day activities in June.

Customer service is a priority of the town. There are many convenient email links on the website that will put you in immediate contact with town officials. This technology makes it so easy to have a role in our government.
