The City of Hanceville was founded on May 28, 1879. Located in North-Central Alabama less than 10 miles from Interstate 65, Hanceville is the second largest city in Cullman County, AL, with a population of around 3,000.
Governed by a Mayor and five-member City Council, Hanceville offers full police protection, fire protection and sanitation services to all of its citizens. Sewer services are also available.

The City of Hanceville offers numerous annual events sponsored through various civic organizations. The Mud Creek Festival, an event that spotlights area High School marching bands, and the annual Christmas Parade sponsored by the Hanceville Civitan Club on the first Saturday in December are but a few of the events favored by locals.
