Our goal is to provide visitors with information necessary to conduct business with the city including information about participation in city sponsored events and economic development efforts.

In addition to the dozens of historic buildings, fine restaurants, and over 25 unique shops you can see in the City of Kimmswick there are other local attractions you may consider visiting. The Mastodon State Historic Site, just a few miles away contains an important archaeological and paleontological site – the Kimmswick Bone Bed. Bones of mastodons and other now-extinct animals were first found here in the early 1800s.

A few miles to the south on Old Highway M you can find the Sandy Creek Covered Bridge, one of the few remaining covered bridges in Missouri. Remember that as you travel to the City of Kimmswick that you are on the Great River Road, one of the most unique scenic byways in the country which runs the length of the Mississippi River.

Today the City of Kimmswick is enjoying a renaissance of activity. There are restaurants, a variety of shops and a visitor center that welcomes tourists to the this quant city. Several activities take place in the city through the year. The Spring Festival is held the first weekend in June. The Apple Butter Festival is held during the last full weekend in October, which features crafts and an apple butter cooking process that is demonstrated by members of the Kimmswick Historical Society. Visitors come from around the world to enjoy the quaint and historic atmosphere of the small Mississippi River City.
