History:

Originally established as Terry in 1884 when the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad built a branch line southwest from Marion, Iowa. The name was changed to Walford on November 11, 1899.

This beautiful community of is located in Southeast Benton County it is just 10 miles to Cedar Rapids and 10 miles to the Amana's. The Walford Economic Development Organization promotes diversity in economic growth, planning and sound strategies for future community changes, a broad local business base, and an excellent quality of life. A local bank, trucking firm, gas station, tavern/restaurant, grain elevator, warehouse for business storage, highway equipment company and ballroom are many of the businesses that call Walford home. Two churches, Clover Ridge Edition Methodist Church and Holy Trinity Catholic Church offer services in Walford. In 1997 residents saw the construction of over 60 new homes and 48 new homes in 1998. This trend is not expected to change.
