Clarion Rotary History:

The Clarion Rotary Club (No. 1840) became a member of the Rotary International on November 21st, 1924. The Hampton Rotary Club, in which Tom Purcell was active, sponsored the organization of the club. The presentation of the charter was made by C.H.E. Boardman of Marshalltown who was the District Governor. The dinner was held in the basement dining room of the United Presbyterian church. Other clubs represented were Eldora, Iowa Falls, Webster City, Fort Dodge, Eagle Grove and Algona. After a fine turkey dinner, the speaker of the evening was Judge Dean W. Peisen of Eldora.

Over the past 80 plus years its members have been active in many local, national and international projects. Although our club might not be as big as some, its activities don’t show it. Currently the club has 24 members who are very active in many projects around the community as well as around the world.
