Clarksburg State Park offers 368 acres of abundant and unspoiled northern hardwood forest with breathtaking views of the Hoosac Range, Mount Greylock and the Green Mountains.

Mauserts Pond has a landscaped day-use area featuring picnicking, and a pavilion area. The pond is surrounded by 9.5 miles of foot trails along which visitors may observe a variety of wildlife, and perhaps a moose. The 3 mile Pond Loop Trail is popular with birdwatchers, and the very easy Shoreline Trail has beautiful water views. 45 well-spaced and wooded campsites are located near the lake, featuring a modern comfort station with showers. NOTE: Customers looking to boat in Mauserts Pond should be aware the surface of the pond does show evidence of weeds. To ensure the safety of our visitors, swimming is not permitted.

Clarksburg State Forest, located 3 miles west of Clarksburg State Park, is a 3,011-acre tract. This undisturbed forest land is popular with hunters and hikers. 4.5 miles of Appalachian Trail passes through the forest into Vermont and the Green Mountain National Forest. Wilderness camping is available with one designated backpacking area called Sherman Brook Campsite with 3 tent platforms along the AT. Please inquire about access and recreational opportunities.
