About Us

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office has a rich history that dates back to 1859. Elam J. Daniels was the first man to hold the highest law enforcement position in the county. From the bank robbery of 1907 in Green Cove Springs to Bill Joe Crab’s great escape to the runaway wife, deputies with the sheriff’s office have solved some interesting crimes over the years. The main goals have always been to protect and serve and that standard continues today.

Under the leadership of Sheriff Darryl Daniels, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office is focusing on crime reduction and community engagement as its two main initiatives.
