Compadre High School was established in 1997 for students who are behind in credits or who dropped out of high school and want to come back to earn their diploma. Compadre operating at its capacity of 300 students. Compadre is located at the corner of Guadalupe and Kyrene Roads within the Tempe Union High School District Office Complex. Compadre draws students from thoughout the Tempe district boundaries.

Compadre is currently running two sessions. Students attend a four-hour block in the morning or afternoon , and learn through computer-assisted instruction, small group work, and text-based lessons. Students attend classes in the core subjects of English, math, science, social studies and can even earn credit for structured work experiences. A limited number of electives are offered. Students may take elective class at their home school or attend classes at the East Valley Institute of Technology in addition to their time at Compadre.

The mission of Compadre High School is to empower each at-risk student with the academic, technological, and social skills necessary to learn and think critically; recognize value in self and others, adapt to change, and be a responsible, ethical contributing member of society.
