First United Methodist Church, Crown Point, Indiana is celebrating the amazing diversity and unity of our country.  September 11th, we will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the "9-11" terrorist attacks with 2 worship services of remembrance, reflection, & renewal as we honor those responders who sacrificed in many ways, some sacrificing their lives.  For further details, please contact Pastor Mark Wilkins, 663-1515, FUMC.

Diversity in music will be celebrated on Saturday, September 10th from 9:00 a.m. until dusk, at FUMC during the first International Music Festival.  Local musicians and dance troops from Illinois and Indiana will entertain in a display of cultural diversity.  Among the performers will be: "Ballet Folkloria de Santa Maria", "Grupo Folorico Amapola", "Ballet Folkloria de East Chicago", "Jill Hayman-Aponte", "The Klezmedics", "Flintlock", "The Hooiser Strings Junior Tamburitzans", "The Just for Fun Ukulele Strummers", "Sandra Hobbs on Celtic Harp with dancers from Indiana Ballet Theater", two "Kindermusik" sessions with Marlize VanderWeshuizen, and more.  Food and "marketplace" vendors will also be featured inside and out, as well as a vast variety of crafts and face painting for children.  There will also be 2 or 3 "Open Mic" sessions; auditions are required.
