East Newnan Baptist Church

577 East Gordon Road

History:

East Newnan Baptist church was organized in 1907. Services were originally held in the old East Newnan School until 1928 when the church building on East Freeman Street was built by Newnan Mills. The church was home to both a Methodist and a Baptist congregation until 1960 when what in now Freeman Memorial Methodist Church sold us their one half ownership.

In 1997 our congregation elected to develop a three year strategic plan for our church. Out of the strategic plan we recognized the need to purchase land and relocate due to our steady increase in church membership and the serious lack of space and parking. In 1998 land was acquired to enable us to rebuild.

In March 1999 a new building committee was established and plans began to get underway to hire an architect, develop plans and pursue our dream of building a new facility. Since that time a great deal of prayer, thought and work have gone into making our dreams a reality. In August 2001, the first service was held in our new church building located at 577 East Gordon Street. God has truly blessed with a beautiful new facility and the opportunity to provide greater ministry to those around us. We praise Him for blessing us so richly. It is only through His grace that we have been able to accomplish this feat.

We thank God for the rich history of East Newnan Baptist Church, but also praise Him for the many blessings that lie ahead of us. We believe that He has an awesome plan and purpose for our church as we continue to grow and minister to our community.
