Elmwood School Mission Statement:

Elmwood School is a place where children feel they are recognized, loved, and respected. We provide a safe and caring environment. Students are encouraged to gain a love for learning in a diverse setting dedicated to the development of personal character, integrity and social responsibility. Teachers, administration, parents and community volunteers work together to provide instructions based on the individual child's needs.

The staff of Elmwood Elementary believes that All Children Can Learn. We will provide an atmosphere conducive to positive student growth. It is our purpose to ensure that all students have mastered the necessary skills to become lifelong learners and contributing meaningful members to society.

About us:

Elmwood School serves K-6th grade students in Zion, Illinois. We are part of the Zion School District #6. Elmwood school is located in Lake County, Illinois, which is approximately 30 miles north of Chicago. It is classified as a medium sized elementary school with a student population of about 370. Elmwood is a culturally diverse school with 44.8% African-American, 34.2% Hispanic, 19.2% Caucasian, and .8% Asian/Pacific Islander. Roughly half of this population is low income and about 20% is limited English proficient. The school's attendance rate is 94.2% and the student mobility rate is 27.5%.
