Federated Church of Green Lake

History

The Federated Church of Green Lake resulted from the coming together of three Protestant congregations already meeting in the area: the Congregational Church (which met on the site of the present church), the Methodist Church (whose building is now Louise’s La Boutique at 467 Hill Street, minus the steeple), and the American Baptist Church (which worshipped in the Chapel Car Grace on the grounds of the American Baptist Assembly, now known as Green Lake Conference Center).

The unification service was conducted October 3, 1948, on the Village Square with each congregation marching from a different direction to a single focal point. Morning worship was held in the Congregational building, a noon dinner was served at the Abbey on the American Baptist Assembly grounds, and an evening vesper service was held at the Methodist building.
