Feeder Canal Alliance

About Us:

The Feeder Canal Alliance is a not-for-profit organization created in 1987 to preserve, promote and maintain the historic Feeder Canal.
The Feeder Canal provides water from the Hudson River to the Champlain Canal, and from the early 1800s until 1928 provided a means of transportation by canal boats for people and goods. In 1928 the canal was abandoned, and the canal and towpath became overgrown and littered with trash.

The canal and towpath today provide recreational opportunities to members of our community as well as providing a glimpse into the past.
The Feeder Canal is the last remaining original canal in New York State.
The seven-mile Feeder Canal Linear Park is an opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to use the trail and learn of its historical significance to our community.
