About Us

First Acoustics is an independent, not-for-profit organization based in Brooklyn that was formed to raise public awareness of acoustic music, be it contemporary, folk or roots music, in Brooklyn and beyond. Most of our concert events will take place at the First Unitarian Church located at Pierrepont Street and Monroe Place in the Brookyn Heights neighborhood of New York City. Concerts may be held in the main sanctuary or the McKinney Chapel.

First Acoustics, Inc. depends on charitable giving by the general public as well as ticket and merchansise sales to cover the costs of our concerts and other operations. First Acoustics is included in the group exemption program of Folk Alliance International, a recognized Section 501(c)(3) organization, which means that all donations to First Acoustics (but not ticket or merchandise purchases) are deductible from federal, state and local taxable income to the extent permitted by applicable law. If your employer matches employee's charitable contributions and you would like to give us money, please call us so we can provide whatever documentation you need to qualify for the match.
