First Baptist Church of Concord

200 Branchview Drive
704-786-9167

The First Baptist Church of Concord was organized in 1886 by a small group of persons who wanted a Baptist fellowship in their community. The church building for the first 99 years were located in downtown Concord, at the corner of Spring Street and Grove Street. In the summer of 1985, the first phase of a building program on Branchview Drive was completed. The church moved into a new Educational facility and began worship services in the fellowship hall. Plans were made to begin work on a permanent sanctuary for worship in July of 1990. It was completed in February of 1992.

We are a Bible believing church with a strong commitment to Evangelism, Discipleship and Worship. At First Baptist Church we value People. We are a "melting pot of people". We are a community of believers who are diverse and united, but not uniform. Within our congregation there are those that are just starting out on life's journey to those who have experienced a long journey through life. Our body is made up of children, working professionals, blue collar workers, and retirees. There are those who have a long family heritage at First Baptist as well as those who are absolutely new to the community. We are a body that experiences joys and sorrows, makes mistakes and requires forgiveness, and are willing to give and receive the grace we have found in Christ Jesus, our Lord.

At First Baptist we value Fellowship. We are a friendly church where people care about one another and enjoy opportunities for getting together. Over the years, the members have felt a closeness and a joy in being together by participating in a variety of church functions and activities. A sense of community and a sense of harmony, which we all desire, are products of these functions and activities.

At First Baptist we value Missions. First Baptist has a history of being involved in missions. In recent years there has been a thrust to do more hands on mission work. We believe in supporting the mission institutions of our association and conventions. We contribute to other ministries such as Serenity House, CVAN, Habitat House, Salvation Army, Baptist Hospital, Children's Home, and Samaritan's Purse just to mention a few.

At First Baptist Church we value Music. Over the years music has been an integral part of the programs at First Baptist. There has always been an outpouring of praise and adoration for God from those who were willing to allow Him to use their time and talents. We are grateful to God for the talents and resources that allow us to proclaim God's Word and declare Him Lord through music. Music inspires and connects us with God and brings us in harmony with each other, as well.

At First Baptist Church we value Worship. Both the Old and New Testaments share the notion that acceptable worship involves more than prescribes rites. We come as a body of believers seeking God's presence and direction. God is the object of our worship. We desire and seek spiritual growth through the power of God's word. Scripture is the authority by which we judge all truth.
