The historical roots of First Baptist Church of Mandan (originally named Baptist Temple Church) are important.  FBC Mandan is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention, (SBC).  Southern Baptists have two great themes of growth:  Evangelism, “the need for personal faith in Jesus Christ,” and Missions, “establishment of new points of witness.”  When Southern Baptist people came to help construct the refinery and electrical generating plants in Mandan, they brought this attitude with them.  Throughout the fifty years, the congregation is still trying to keep evangelism, missions and fellowship as major goals.
